I think this must rate as my longest elapsed-time project. I started this 4 years ago, and discussed it a bit with my dad, who was bed-ridden then, just to cheer him up. He had gotten mighty interested and kept giving me free inputs for weeks. Then he passed away, and I lost interest in this particular project, so much so that the LOML had to get on my case to complete it. I think my dad would have liked it.
Most of the features are from inputs from y'all here. I kept asking here, and designing based on feedback. The wood is Brazilian Cherry and White Maple, with Mahogany ply for the top (two layers of 3/4). The inlay bands from Woodcraft and the inlay circle from online. The CPU cart was to be on drawers, but based on suggestions here, I put it on castors : wooden legs I cut, on tiny ball-bearing wheels from HF.
The table is 36" tall, 40" wide and 26" deep, as ordered by SWMBO. She likes the keyboard on the surface (not in the drawer), and I'll be getting wireless keyboard/mouse for her.
There are platform(s) below the top : on the left above the CPU, and on the right, to keep all the modems and external hard-drives, and stuff. I have left a gap in the middle of the back slats for any over-sized plugs to pass thru. I hope to corral all cables neatly at the back and avoid a rats-nest.
There are drawers behind the apron; I forgot to take pictures.
(The pics were taken while it waited for it's allotted spot to be cleared up. )
