Thanks for the "Hi" from a fellow IC Man.
I'm 64 and after getting my Draft Notice, decided to enlist in the Navy instead, I enlisted 2 months after you were born on Dec 14 1965. They put us on a train in NYC and we traveled all night to the Great Lakes Naval Training Center. I'll never forget how cold it was in Boot Camp at Camp Moffat.
After boot camp and home leave I returned for IC school, then to a ship in Norfolk, an old Liberty Ship in the Gator Fleet. About 1967 I went back to GLNTC for Gyro Tech school and trained on the Sperry MK14 Gyro Compass as well as an Arma Gyro.
I was fortunate to stay out of harms way- Viet Nam was hot and heavy then- by protecting the Caribbean, 2 trips to Halifax NS, one to Cartegena SA, and a trip through the Panama Canal to Pearl Harbor and Okinawa, then back again.
