I am rebuilding a BT3k and starting from the bottom up starting with a new set of BT3100 shims. On another posting, the author added retaining clips. He suggested drilling and taping new holes for screws to hold the clips on. Can I remove and replace the bottom set screws with longer cap screws(1") with a nut screwed on. Then after adjusting the screw to the the same as the original set screw, tighten the nut down to hold the clip on? How should the set screws be adjusted in relationship to the shims?
