I picked this up for my Jet JJ-6CSX jointer. Installation wasn't tough, but I did need to go to the auto parts store to get a pulley puller to swap the bearings. This isn't required for all jointers, but is for mine. There was no documentation to explain this (or anything), but Sunhill answered the phone and helped me quickly when I called them. I used the cutterhead R/R instructions from Jet and that was sufficient. I would say the job took one hour plus having to go get the puller.
Cut quality with this head is phenomenal. Tear-out is nearly eliminated on cross-grain cuts, and totally eliminated on face grain. Even birdseye maple has no eye tear-outs. Cutting in the wrong direction barely decreases cut quality. Chatter and vibration are zero now.
Although this unit is pricey ($320), the improvement in cut quality and usability is well worth it. The carbide cutters last much longer, plus have four cutting surfaces (rotate the cutters to expose a new surface). They will probably out-last several sets of HSS knives.
