Neat! how does the tooling work, eg what steps are involved?

They are quite simple to do.
After following the instructions on the first two with good wood, I used a scrap piece of 2X2 to experiment with.
I found that if you drill the hole 1 3/16" deep the chrome lip on the stopper blends with the wood better.

Since I have a Nova midi chuck I used that rather than the PSI jam chuck.

            The PSI Instructions

Sample with hole drilled to 1 3/16"

Thanks Dick! I agree, the deeper hole makes it look better.

Doesn't using the midi chuck make it hard to work on the bottom of the stopper?

It was very dificult finishing the bottom of the stopper in the chuck. I tried a spur center in the stopper hole today and then switched to the chuck to finish the top. Still difficult so I ordered the PSI jam chuck.

I'll let you know how it works out.

Now those are neat. I never realized those came with the pouring spout. Guess I should pay more attention. I might have to order a couple next time I order pens.

BTW, can't you just make a jam chuck out of scrap wood?

                  Nice work as always.

The hole is cylindrical, and the objective is to be able to turn the bottom where it would make contact with a traditional jam chuck.

I think a rubber sanding drum might just be the ticket. Rockler every now and then has a set on sale ($12.95 or so I think) that contains a 1" by 1" drum that looks a lot like the jam chuck from the PSI instructions.
