Well I have joined the world of wood turning

I bought an older delta lathe a while ago for a good price and decided I should take a class in turning. Well the class was this last weekend and was a blast. The instructors were very good and I had a great time. Here are pictures of the three projects we finished in class.

A mallet of course I think this is a prerequisite for the class.

A couple of bowls. We ran out of time to finish the second bowl in class. None of these projects has any finish on them yet but I will be working on that soon.

    Don,
Congrats on the lathe and the first projects. They look way better than the first things that came off my lathe.
I do feel better though knowing there is another sucker, er convert to turning and that the additction continues to spread..
If you are like me, before long there will be no such thing as scrap that could have fit in the lathe as it already would have!
    have fun but be safe!

Looks good. I've been meaning to make myself a mallet. What is yours made of?

The mallet is made of maple. But you could probably use any good hardwood to make it.

                      So..........

I take it that you'll be hosting the Connecticut chapter of the BT3Central woodturning association then?

I would have it in my shop but I'd have to lomit it to 3 members and even then You'll have to hang from the ceiling [V]

Someday I'll get my shop cleaned out.

Well with the limited number of BT3Central members from this wonderful state room for 3 might just be enough . I would be interested in having a get together of the BT3Central members from the local area.

Your done for now. As you slide down the slippery slope, you start to think about how much fun it is to take something that is round, cut it flat and make it round again.
Measure twice, cut once, screw it up, start over
