    A new project - warning, 3 pictures

Sorry I've not been worth much on the forum lately. Life seems to have gotten in the way! I HAVE enjoyed all the project posts, however. So as a way of catching up, great job everyone! It's encouraging to see the results of your work.

My daugter (age 15-1/2) recently finished her first bowl and asked if I would post the picture for her. She's been lurking and admiring the posts as well About 4" x 2" out of lacy sycamore and finished with Shellawax creme.

    Thanks for looking!

      1st of all; Welcome back.

She did a beautiful job. Encorage her to keep going.
My first turning was done in jr high at about her age, 50+ years ago, and I didn't start again untill 2 years ago. I missed so many years of turning.

Something HAS to be wrong with my pc. You said warning and I can't find anything wrong with any of those pics I see she has it numbered #1. When will we see #2?

I think she did a wonderful job! Very pretty bowl and nicely done for sure. I wish my first effort could have been as nice but it was not worth much after it bounced off the wall and fell to the floor with a broken spigot. I hope to see more of your and her work posted here.

She did great, Karen! No way I'd show what I called a bowl on my first attempt!

Thank you all for your encourageing comments. Yes, this is her very first project and she is already talking about making her next. We had problems with the bowl flying off the lathe after she turned it to hollow the inside. Hit the ground hard several times and dented/cracked. She has wonderful patience, though, and didn't get very frustrated. Finally ended up buying a chuck and re-doing the base and outside. Amazing how much easier the chuck is to work with!

That looks great Karen. Your daughter seems to have the same talent as you when it comes to turning beautiful projects. Keep up the good work.
