Belt # for HF 34706 lathe

Help! Does anyone know a part number for the drive belt on the HF lathe model 34706? Mine basically disintergrated.
    Thanks for help.

I would expect that to be a standard V belt. If so you can get a rough diameter with a piece of heavy string, measure the width of the pully groove and go to your local auto parts store. You may have to pick up 2 or 3 belts and return the ones that don't fit but it will get you up and running.

Dick is right, a standard Vee-belt it what you need. Make sure that you buy a belt that does not have the serrations in the bottom of the Vee (Been there, done that, worked like crap) I also had my belt on my Grizzly kill itself. The problem was that the pulleys were not properly aligned from the factory. Make sure you check this before installing the new belt.

Thanks for your responses. I'll use some string to get the length.

Did you get the replacement belt ? Would you mind posting the # you got if you were able to find one? Also, what is the process to change the belt, just slide off the "lower" pulley?

No, the Pulleys do not need to come off. I set mine to the highest speed then with the lathe off you cut the old belt off and just streach the new one on.

If I remember right the belt is 24". I got mine at Ace Hardware. The first belt I got was a little wider than the original which altered the speed range. I found that the Ace near me carried the narrower one.
