    Jam Chucks, Glue Blocks

I am about to make up a few jam chucks or glue block chucks and wondered if it really matters what wood you use. Obviously I am not going to use Wenge but I have had some basswood sitting around that I had no use for. The fact that its rather soft seemed like a food thing for this application. Is there any reason I should not use it?

I don't think it matters that much as along as you have fairly smooth and even grained wood.

Used the basswood and epoxied in some 1-8 nuts. Used a couple this last week and they work as advertised.
