Finally got a little shop time today, 4 pens

Work has been very busy lately so my wife told me to forget doing anything around the house and get out in the shop. []

You only had two of them with you when you stopped by today and they were beautiful. They are all great but I love the twist.

They are all beautiful, Scott, but I agree the twist is extra-special. Now I'm very curious - how on earth did you do that?? I'm guessing carving after you've turned it?

Very nice, especially the Barleytwist. So, how did you do the twist?

I new the "howd ya do that" was coming on the twist. I have a Legacy 200 turning mill. The mill uses a handheld router and there is a pen mandrel and an indexing rod that turn together with a couple of gears. I cut the sprial with pointed router bit and do the final dimension on my mini lathe. Sanding is a chore. I need to get a flap sander.

(Edit) I added a pic of the Legacy Mill if anyone is curious.

That Legacy is pretty cool (I had to go look it up). I like the idea of fluting spindles and whatnot. Very cool.
