    What is this?

    This could end up to be a unusual post, but I picked this up with some other wood turning stuff and didn't ask at the time what it was for. I'm wondering if it is a jig for sharpening gouges. Any way I am asking. Incidently the guy that I got it from isn't available to ask any more. There was a baldor low speed grinder/buffer in with all the stuff (which I have been using). It looks like it was made for something, anybody recognize it?

      It's a doggy door with an outrigger. 'specially made for folks who live in flood plains.

          Looks to be a fair sized object. My guess would be some kind of tool rest.
