This forum is just too quiet, so here are a couple of the group of pens I've been busy with.
Ambrosia maple and bloodwood chubby slinlines with ebony centerbands.

Hi Ken, Those are nice pens. I haven't tried to make the CB's yet, but that is my next project, so I can make the "chubby slimlines". I think they look a lot better and eliminate the tight belt look. Do you drill the ebony to 7mm and put a cutoff tube in it or just drill it 1/4" and put it directly on the spindle replacing the middle bushing? I was going to try them both to see which is more stable.

Chuck, I drill the 1/4" hole in a length of ebony, or other material, then cut the little CB pieces off on a small crosscut sled I made just for small items. I have glued the CB to the front section, or usually just leave it loose on the transmission. When making chubbys, I initially use the center bushing till I get down to the barrel trimmer diameter, then remove the center bushing and put the CB material in its place and turn it down to where the end blanks are, then continue designing the pen.

Your gettin' to be a turning machine there Ken! I have been traveling a lot for work and it really puts a damper on the shop time. I'll be urning this weekend though.
