    AM Style Pen - Yellowheart

    Hey Sam,
This forum will be a great asset to your new site.
I'd like to point out a couple of things if I may.

    1. Norton Internet Security blocks the registration process at the policy acceptance page. When enabled, the page reloads after clicking Accept. Not a problem on your end, but a note to temporarily disable NIS might be helpful.
    2. The generic Snitz Forum e-mail addys are in the policy page, not Sam Condor addys.

Thanks for all your effort providing this site.

Sam, I'm doing the same thing. I've proposed this to the boss for the Projects I work with. He will be looking at your forum, and telling me his thoughts.

        AM Style Pen - Yellowheart

Woodcraft Amercian style Pen kit with Yellowheart. The pencil had an unrecoverable assembly oops, I forgot to put the ring on it and can't unpress that part to get it off, oops.

Classy-looking pen, Chuck. As for the pencil, you're right. Oops happen. Then we learn (hopefully!)

Nice looking pen Chuck! Pens aren't as forgiving sometimes and that does not lend itself to creative carpentry.

That looks great. I have three yellowheart blanks and have wondered what they would look like. Thanks for posting that.

I have found that finished wood and "imagined" finished wood aren't always the same thing. My problem is that I bought one of those sample kits from WoodCraft in Mobile when visiting Lee and Larry. About half just don't turn out as pretty as my imagination. But half are beautiful beyond what I expected. Great learning experience. I pulled a yellowheart out a couple of days ago and am just about ready to turn one.

A Japanese friend gave me some cutoffs of some real pretty tannish wood. But when I made a pen, it looked like an ordinary 3/8 in dowell with finish on it.

Good looking pen, Chuck. I have trouble with light colored woods picking up residue from the bushings when sanding. You did real good with the Yellowheart.

                  Ken,

Glad you said that. I get residue also and didn't know if it was just my technique or what.

After the final sanding I burnish the blank with a handfull of shavings, that removes any residue.

I'll try that later today, that is really gonna tick me off, at myself, after what I've done to try to avoid and remove that crap.
