    A Productive Time!

Here are some bowls I completed last week.

The first is in Cedar of Lebanon, 125mm (5") diameter, 80mm (3.25") tall. Finish: sanding sealer, then Rustins burnished.

The second is in Utile (African, similar to sapele). It's 205mm (8.125") diameter, 105mm 4.25") tall. Finish: sanding sealer followed by wax.

The final bowl is in Zebrano (Africa). It's 225mm (9") diameter and 55mm (2.25") tall. Finish: sanding sealer, Rustins burnished.

The Utile and Zebrano blanks were given to me by my staff as part of my retirement send-off and it was a real pleasure turning them.

    Ray.

Good looking bowls. The finish sounds simple, but really looks good.

Beautiful work Ray. The first one looks almost like ceramic.

Nice bowls. I must have missed the memo you retired. Great deal. May you enjoy the heck out of it. Or as Rod Kirby would say "Good on ya"

Beautiful bowls, Ray. I especially like the Cedar of Lebanon, such a clear white.

You have to love zebra wood. I enjoy working with it a lot. It always amazes me how wonderful it buffs.

All beautiful bowls, Ray, but there is something about the cedar bowl that sets it apart in my eye!

Thanks for the kind comments - much appreciated! My favorite is the zebrano bowl. Yet again, the picture does not do it justice. If only I would take time to set up a lighting tent, I'm sure that they would come out better. The little cedar bowl was an absolute delight to turn - nice and easy on the tools and such a great smell at the same time!

                              Ray.
