    First NIP bowl.

Here are my first attempts at a Norfolk Island pine bowl. It is not easy to keep the star in there.

Beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful! That has been my dream since the first time I saw a bowl/plate like that. Beautiful contrasts!

All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes, to make it possible

Norfolk Island Pine is fun wood to turm. You did a great job with that. What is the finishing method??

That is a beautiful piece and an excellent turning. It is truly amazing that something like that can be in a chunk of wood.

I am still in the process of finishing it. It has been through 2 oil soakings, I figure it should have another 10-20 to go.
                Process:
                Buff sand the wood.
Rub with boiled Linseed oil untill a residue stays on the wood.
                Dry for 24 hrs
                repeat

I love the way NIP turns. It is a beautiful wood.

That is just too cool! The workmanship and the grain are both awesome.
I need to find the miracle grow and put some on my northfolk pine plant...I want it to grow really big, really fast so it will look like THAT!

Very pretty figure I am going to have to get a piece of that and see what I can do. The natural wood selection around here is not very good.
