Anyone know anything about this as a general shop lathe? I'm partial to Ridgid but have never seen this in my BORG. Here's the description.

As little as I know about lathes so far, I'd prefer a cast bed instead of tubular.

I've seen one at a friends house. It's not like the other mono tube lathes that I've had. It's a one piece tube so the tool rest slides from one end to the other without obstructions or joints.
All the hardware is of a better quality also. The knobs are metal instead of plastic, etc. It was a nice mono-tube as far as mono-tubes go. My preference too though is for a cast iron bed.

I recall guys giving bad reviews to Mill Drills with tubular columns as opposed to Dovetailed columned mills because of the round tube. It seems to be an extra and sometimes frustrating step to align the head with the x and y axis of the milling table. I would think that this tail stock would produce similar frustrations. I don't think I would consider it very appealing.

This lathe looks like the old Sears model of the early 70's.
