That caught my eye, I just bought a HF 90265 VS 15" lathe thathas a 1x8tpi so now I have a lathe I can buy a chuck for. I understand what these do from reading here and watching the woodturning shows. My question is what WON'T this chuck do? I don't want to get halfway to halving a good chuck and find I have to fork out another $200

I have one of these chucks and it is pretty nice. Machined very well and uses all the Nova accessory jaws. The issues I have with it are 1) The threads are machined into the body so moving to another lathe with a different sized spindle is not an option 2) I have to use a bushing on the spindle of the larger lathe to use the chuck or it bottoms out. 3) Jaw movement is limited to I think ¾”.

Once you find you can deal with the minor limitations you will find that this chuck works very well.

Sure, as long as both tommy bars are close enough. [)]

          Sorry,

            Hi All,
Ok, dummy me, got dummy question. I bought one of these chucks, but I havent got an idea why they supply you with 3 little red washers? And 2 set screws? The directions says its for making the movement stiffer? Im not quite sure what they mean by that. I see the chuck has 3 holes for the set screws, but they just supply 2 screws, but yet give you 3 washers. I looked in Georges site, to make sure I got everything for this chuck, and I see he has the same amount of set screws and washers too. So Im curious on what exactly these are supposed to do. If you can help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
