I bought this block of big leaf maple 10 years ago for $33. I was always scared to use it and of course the worst happened. I went through the bottom.
The little cocobolo bowl turned out good though.
Working so deep in the bowl the tools were hard to control. I'm sure if I was good at sharpening them it would have been a little better.
