New Turner needs help

Hi, I just bought used a Central Machinery 3/4hp wood lathe. I don't know a thing about turning. Where do I begin? To start, I need some chisels. I'm on a budget, so where's the best deal for the best price? Thanks, Todd.

You will also need a method to sharpen them. I recommend the slow speed grinder frow woodcraft. I managed to get it on sale at 79.00.

Lots of cheap wood to practice on.

Look for a turning club in your area and join them. Also any classes that may be available in the area. Good luck to ya.

Welcome to the forum, Todd! I'm afraid I'm not a lot of help, but recommend high speed steel for your chisels. They are supposed to hold a sharp edge longer.
