Real nice Jeff. I'm looking forward to my Woodcraft class in Feb. What did you use to hollow the Southwest style bowl? And, how were the vertical grooves done?

The "vertical" grooves are actualy worm holes. The bowl was hollowed using just a bowl gouge and a scraper. I need to invest in some hollowing tools. The inside of the hollowed vessel is a little rough.
Nice work, Jeff. What are the sizes? I'm going to take one of those courses next time it comes around at Woodcraft. I have to get their schedule.
The two mesguite bowls are about 4" x 3". The mahogany is 6" x 3. The "southwest" style turning was actually at my local turners club. The woodcraft turning class is more basic, but a great place to learn.
Very nice! I love Mesquite. I have turned it, and have more to turn. the holes add a little bit of natures interest to the project. But I thought they were cuased by a beetle rather than a worm. Although it wouldnt be the first time I have been wrong[:0]
