    DD70 Spur center

    New to Turning, picked up old Reliant DD70, Question is I know it has a threaded Center but I am wondering if I can get a six inch blacking plate for it. ?

    According to this: https://archive.org/details/american-woodworker-055 the Reliant DD70 has a 3/4 inch x 10 tpi spindle thread (an oddball size these days).

    Maybe your best best would be to get an adapter like this: http://www.amazon.com/PSI-Woodworkin...dp/B000KI8CBQ/ and get a more standard thread size back plate (or face plate).

    For a lathe this small, you might want to consider, at least to begin with, a smaller (3 to 4 inch) plate, rather than 6 inch. Just my 0.02, as a relative newbie turner myself.
