    Duplicator?

I am considering purchasing a duplicator for my Jet Mini Lathe for making fishing lures. Penn State Industries sells a version for $120 and then there is the Vega Midii Duplicator for approximately double the price. Is the Vega worth the extra money? Thanks.

I have the less expensive of the two. I bought it about 7 years ago when I bought my lathe. I have the Turncrafter something-or-other lathe. I haven't had any problems with the duplicator.

It's definitely not indestructible, but with reasonable care and cleaning, my has held up just fine. I had to install a new cutting bit recently, but felt I got adequate usage out of it's predecessor.

I don't know if the new ones are upgraded or not, but about the only thing I didn't like about mine is the wimpy screws used for adjusting/balancing the cutter height and the screws that lock a guide template down.

The KEY thing with it is to make sure you do the setup on it to ensure accurate results.

I've had the Penn State version for several years. It works fine for me. I have used it on both brass and wood. I did add the carbide cutter that seems to work better with brass.
