    The Lowly Xacto Knife

We all probably have several of these in the shop. Today I had a little shop time, which has been scarce lately, so I wrapped this knife in some Eastern red Cedar. Finished it with The Doctor's walnut oil/shellac/ wax brew.

Nice custom handle Dick! The xacto knife is awesome for layout and for registering your chisel. I think its the most underrated tool in my arsenal!!

HEY, as a "professional" X-acto knife user (semi-retired that is) with more than 50-years of experience, I have got to tell you:

THAT IS A MIGHTY ATTRACTIVE KNIFE!

Seriously, I've probably used an X-acto almost every day for most of 40 years in the publications and illustration business. It is unquestionably an indispensable tool. I've silouetted more photos, cut and pasted more copy and used one in most every other need you can imagine. NEVER have I ever held a handle that would come even imaginably attractive as your craftsmanship.

But, does it roll off the drawing board and slice your leg open? (That's a different story, involving a young lady in a mini-skirt ) Thankfully you don't have to worry about such things on a workbench!

          Thanks for showing this,

          CWS

Really nice, Dick. But then, I'm used to saying that about your work.

              Dick -

I really like the unique items that you choose to "wrap" in wood. Beautiful. Your Xacto knife and your seam ripper are on my gift giving to-do list. Thanks for posting.
