    A Firewood Cigar

Sometime back a local firewood cutter gave me a nice slab of local Yew. I cut a bunch of blanks today and when this one showed up I quit cutting and started turning.
I wrapped it around a two tone copper Hybrid Cigar and finished with The Doctors Workshop brew.

I like that a lot. What kind of wood was that? Nice grain for such a small piece.

It is Pacific Yew (Taxus brevifolia) from here on the Olympic Penninsula in Washington.

It looks like the right decision (stop cutting and start turning).

Looks great, love the grain! What is "The Doctors Workshop brew"? A Google search was disturbing...

I think that's supposed to be Doctors Woodshop.
Doctor's Woodshop produces custom friction polishes and woodturning finishes based on Walnut Oil.

Gerti, sorry for the goof. www.doctorswoodshop.com
I am using the Walnut oil/Shellac/Wax mixture. I am going to use this as my daily pen to see how well it holds up. It sure goes on nice and doesn't hide the feel of the wood like CA does.
