I've been practicing making boxes. The boxes aren't all that great yet, but I'm getting there. After reading Ken's tutorials and such, I'm thinking of getting a drill chuck and using forstner bits to hollow out the boxes. I've been using forstner bits in my drill press, but I get off-center once in awhile and that hasn't been fun when it happens.
I've worked on hollowing out the centers with various gouges, but I'm starting to think I'd like to get more experience turning before I start that up again. (i.e., I'm impatient and want it to be perfect NOW [
)]). The rest of the box turning process has been really enjoyable.
Anyone know of a resonably priced drill chuck that you'd recommend?
I use #2MT and I'd like to get 1/2" chuck. Should I buy it as one piece or buy a #2MT arbor and then just get a Jacobs chuck at the BORG? I'd prefer to use keyless.
Your thoughts?
