Intended to be gifts to friends, these use the "comfort grip" kits currently on sale at Rockler for $2.99 (through 3 June). I liked the girth of the center ring (as opposed to Slimline), so thought I'd try these - and toss the unappealing (to me, read: not wood) comfort grip.
Left to right - Laminate (freebie blank from local Woodcraft); Redheart, Lignum (with interesting grain occlusion on one side), Kingwood, Mopani, and Olive. I varied diameters to get "taste" of what I like; olive was a bit to thick, but the readheart and mopani are comfortable - the others a bit thin for my grip.
Also my first shot at buffing after the BLO/CA application. More time spent, but worth it I believe.
Interesting note on the Mopani - there's something in the grain that reflects as white specks via my camera flash that aren't there to the naked eye...?
Thanks for looking.
