Okay, finally back in the shop

And have been itching to get this worked out a bit.

One of the Penturners better halves has long been known to make beautiful pen blanks. Being a glass artist she developed one that incorporated Dichroic glass rods. The problem was that the rods were rather close to the finish diameter of many of the pens and you risked hitting and shattering the rods while turning the encasement PR down to size. She only offered a few and they were offered on a "try at your own risk" basis.

Well, she and I have been bouncing ideas off each other for months on this, wanting a more turner friendly Dichroic blank and this is my first semi-successful result.

Dichroic v2.1 on a Gunmetal Vertex Fountain (test bed for the plating to see if it's good enough to offer).

Photoing the way the colors shift as the angle the light hits it is very difficult, but pics 1 through 5 are of different angles so you can see some of it. I'm going to try shooting a video of it but need to get my tripod out to keep it stable.

If at first you don't succeed, deny you were trying in the first place.

Beautiful, Mike. I use a gunmetal Vertex BP that is holding up well.

Very nice! I was never a fan of dichroic until recently when I started to make some cufflinks with it. I always thought it was too 'flashy', but it plays off beautifully against a gun metal or silver color.
