    Bowl Gouge Purchase Question

I've got a $50 Woodcraft gift card,, a 10% off WC coupon, and just a few bucks to go with them.
I think I'm gonna use them for a decent bowl gouge.
    Suggestions appreciated.

Everyone has a different preference for a bowl gouge. My most used bowl gouge ot the Crown HSS Bowl Gouge, 3/8" #14Q88 from Woodcraft. I have several bowl gouges but the one I find myself reaching for the most is the 3/8" followed closely by the Ellsworth Signature Gouge. The 3/8" gouge is around $50.00 and with 10% off it won't eat up all of your gift card.

    Mu humble opinion.

I favor 1/2 bowl gouges buy think 3/8 is a good and maybe better.
I have FH, Sorby, Hamlet, Crown and P & N. I use the P&N the most.
P&N 3/8" deep flute unhandled bowl gouge - actual measure is 7/16

Kelton Large handle this handle will hold the 3/8" gouge

Sorby/Woodcraft raised prices in November 04, Crown are as good. In fact, I can not detect much if any difference.

      Crown 3/8" is $49

I have the crown ellsworth signature bowl gouge, and it is something else. Pricey though, approaching $100.

Thanks guys. I picked up a 3/8" Crown Pro PM. I've read that it should not need grinding as often, we'll see. It sure is fun to use. I never knew dry wood could make long curly ribbons!! :&gt
