Tried a new finish and I like it. First time I've gotten carob wood to pop the red and not fade out.

Four dips in the Waterborne finish

It finished out nicely.

What other finishes have you used? I would think that a thinned oil would penetrate and bring out the colors.

Nice work Seabat! I love the colors of the wood. Did you say its Carob wood? Not heard of that one before. My 1 y.o. has the same blue capped cup. Aren't they cute running around with their cups

What other finishes have you used?

CA, Deft Gloss Lacquer and Tru-Oil off the top of my head.

I would think that a thinned oil would penetrate and bring out the colors.

I did try Sanding sealer and it was the best at bringing the color out but the Enduro-Var by far is the best.

Also did a test dipping of Enduro and High Performance on a piece of Big Leaf Maple ...



In this case the Enduro added more color to the BLM than the High Performance.

But the HP also has its place ... here is HP on a piece of Texas Salt Cedar.



I'm very pleased with the Waterborne Finishes.

Yes ... It's one of the Biblical woods and I'm on a goal to try and turn all that are mentioned in the Bible.
