A couple limited editions and my first Honkin' Pen

First up is a Chittum Burl (American Smoketree Root Burl, the rarest of the American Burls. Dynamite is usually needed to remove it from the limestone it grows in.) on a Black Ti Jr. Emperor.

Next is a Cocobolo Burl (One of the rarest South American Burls) on a Black Ti Jr. Statesman.

Last is a special order. I sold a guy a Irish Bog Oak Baron and after a year, he comes back wanting a bigger version. So, I made him an Irish Bog Oak Black Ti Stateman (full sized). The last pic shows the Baron on top, the Jr. Statesman in the middle and his new Statesman on bottom. Now that is ONE HONKIN' PEN.

The first two are limited editions as I have only been able to get my hands on three of the pieces of wood, and finding more will be hard and expensive.

All three were finished with lacquer. The first two are gloss and the IBO is satin.

They all look great Mike but the Cocobolo Burl is my favorite.

I agree with Dick on the burl. But they all look great.

That's the first time that I've seen a collapsible pen. Very cool work, sir.

That is a great batch of pens! That should help with Christmas a little bit!

Great work and you brought the beauty of the wood out!

Thanks guys, I've got to get set up this weekend and get some better shots. The Chittum has some curl that these pics aren't showing very well, and the depth of the cocobolo is MUCH deeper, but I may not get that to show in a photo.

I was surprised that the IBO fit in the felt bags that I give away with sales, but it did. I will have to make a couple for my site now. And take a better size comparison photo to post there too.
