    Flute

    Yesterday at a hands-on session of our woodturners club we made flutes. Native American design, pentatonic scale. Sorry for the bad camera phone picture... Material is cedar. The extra yellowish leather strip is a temporary fix for a tuning mistake, the list we used for tuning actually had a typo for the base note my flute came out at. That session was a lot of fun.

    Nice job, very unique. How does it sound? It reminds me of a flute type instrument we had as kids called a Recorder. Can't play anymore...fingers don't work so well.

      It has more volume, so it is a bit lower than a recorder. And the pentatonic scale gives it a more solemn feel. The wikipedia page has some sound samples:
