    Box for Ken

Since Ken been feeling like "old shoe" posting his boxes here. I thought I would post some of mine. What's the connection? While making this box I referred back to his tutorials during the process. He has one on making boxes, segmented turnings. It's really nice to have in the "Favorites" list. His work is an inspiration to see.

Kudos to Ken for helping me improve my lathe skills and I look forward as always to his tutorials and newest creations.

      Nice work Bill.

Kenneth is a real inspiration for new turners and those that are not so new. His tutors have helped me in my turning and also made me think a lot. I’m anxiously awaiting his write up on the thread turning jig but I know Ken is busy and he will make it superb, just like his other tutors. I’m constantly surprised at how much the man improves week by week. I predict, and mark my words, we are witnessing the rise of a new star in the turning world if Kenneth chooses to be more public.

I really appreciate you guys and your kind words and thoughts. It is really kind of funny how things go. First I get into turning and then I start posting about it on my favorite forum with what I consider to be the best bunch of guys on the internet. I originally started my Web Page as my wife’s suggestion to sort of chronicle my growth in my woodturning pursuits. Then after I started really getting into boxes and such you guys asked a few questions that prompted me to create the pictorials to show you what I was doing and how I was doing it.

Although I have never advertise and post on a very limited number of forums I have never really mentioned much about my site other than to you guys. I get feedback emails all the time from my site that are all very positive about my ramblings. Last night I and the wife were talking about this nice email I received from the site feedback button when she asked how many people visit my site. Well to tell the truth I had no idea as I have never looked but I know that the hosting company has reporting available. I also know a few other sites have links to me (Thanks lee and others) but I still pretty much figured that I was getting the vast majority of my hits from this site.

Well to both of our complete and total amazement in November alone I got 137329 hits from 30 different countries with this huge list of referrers! 140,119 pages were served in November alone. To someone like Sam or Tom Hintz I am sure this is a pittance but to me its mind boggling considering all I am trying to do is share my experiences with my friends.

I am very proud that I can share with people my journey, trials and errors in this my passion.

(VERY Nice work Bill, I have yet to try Chatter other than with a scraper for effect. Going to build one of those tools.)

Nice job Bill. Each time I see a box turned from pine I'm surprised how much I like the grain patterns....I'm gonna have to try one myself sometime.

And to Ken.....You may be surprised at your sites hit count, but I am not (although that is a lot of hits!). It is a great site that I visit often (a lot of those hits are mine). I've said it before and I'll say it again....THANK YOU. I know it takes time and effort when you could be happily making more shavings but I sure do appreciate it.

            Very nice work.
Guess I have to try boxes one of these days, looks like they would be fun to turn.
