    spalted maple goblets

well, one is more or less a goblet, other is vase/chalice/goblet-ish?
got one more to shoot,my favorite actually..
from some branches someone had in their form yard...i also took home a BIG chunk of the trunk. about 26"Dia. maybe 33"long. Lots of spalting judging from the endgreain!! i'll mill it with my chainsaw-mill.... i actually made a ramp with the (2) 10' long branches laying on the 'tailgate' and was able to roll the thing into the back of my merc.sable station wagon like that . hauling home "firewood" is half the reason i bought that car!though i usually have a utility trailer for this operation lol...

anyhow. excue the horrendous picture quality,i was in a rush...
i'm planning to buy a photo-tent,lights and hopefully evn a new DSLR camera so pretty soon i'll have photos that may actually do the wood SOME justice.

The top two flutes are shaped like some glass ones I was drinking beer out of last week. They've got a nice shape and look.

All three are very close to a "pilsner" glass shape.

            Very cool

Would beer change the color of the spalt? Or would the spalt change the color of the beer?

i've heard you shouldnt really use spalted woods for eating or drinking from, since the spalting is caused by a fungal infection/decay...would that really cause a problem???
i guess alcoholic drinks would disinfect?

i know red wine will stain up pecan real good!
