A Good Day In The shop

The weather is warming up enough to enjoy some shop time and with LOMLs blessing I spent most of today there.
The first stopper is Cocobolo the second is East Indian Rosewood the pen is Woodcraft's Scarlet Mesh acrylic with black Polaris hardware.
The next project is a light tent so I can get decent pictures.

If at first you don't succeed, deny you were trying in the first place.

Everything looks great. Where do you get the stopper parts?

Looks good! At that the kind of stopper you glue into the blank? How do you mount that to the lathe?

I got one of the PSI screw chucks for the stoppers, and I found that it easily strips the threads in the blanks you you have a catch....

Wow, veerrrry nice. I especially like the feel of a pen with a larger barrel and that one looks great 'to the feel' and to the eye. Thanks for sharing, Dick. Your work is always exemplary.
                Blessings,

Thanks to all for your compliments!

To answer a couple questions: The stopper parts come from Woodcraft. I drill a 1/2" hole 1" deep in the blank and glue in a piece of 1/2" oak dowel about 2 1/2" long. I mount it in my Nova midi chuck and turn between centers until I'm ready to finish the top and then move the tail stock away. Sanding and finishing is done without the tail stock. After finishing I cut the dowel to the proper length and glue on the silicone stopper.
