    No Pen Kits Or Blanks

The new Rockler catalog came today. There is not one pen kit or pen blank in it. I buy very little from them but it is handy to have a couple different catalogs around for reference.

I hope to pick some up at the Woodworkers Show this weekend. Craft Supplies from Provo Utah will be there. I have bought blanks and kits from them before so hopefull they will have some specials on kits and blanks. I like them because they have different center bands and clips and good quality kits. Otherwise it's off the Woodcraft for some kits before I leave for Idaho, or I can pick some up in Boise next week.

For those that buy kits from woodcraft, I would also suggest looking at this site. www.arizonasilhouette.com

They sell kits from the same manufacturer and usually have better prices, shipping is fast and reliable and the owner is well known for putting bonus blanks in the packs. He also has a very nice selection of blanks.

Some have said that he is rude on the phone, but I've always ordered through the site.

If at first you don't succeed, deny you were trying in the first place.

Yes, Bill can be a bit gruff on the phone, or not answer it at all (usually because he is turning something when it rings) but online orders are shipped lightning fast, in-stock availability is good, and orders around $20 or higher are usually not charged extra for shipping. Always good quality stuff (carries almost every Berea kit made, plus spare parts and tools).

CSUSA (Craft Supplies) has also been a reliable source for me.

On the other hand, there is a company called "Steebar" penmakingsupplies.com that was once well-respected, but has changed hands, and is now screwing people right and left. DO NOT make the mistake of buying anything from this company.

Craft Supplies will be at the woodworks show this weekend go by and sign up for a catalog. The catalog has much more than the booth. They have some kits and pen blanks along with some other supplies and 2 or 3 lathes set to let people turn pens. I picked up some Acrylic blanks and kits lastweekend they, do give a discount on the kits and blanks. I like the quality of their kits and the ability to buy different center bands and clips. Cooks Hardwoods should have trailer outside in front of the main with all kinds of hardwood for sale, they also have large supply of wooden pen blanks for sale for between $.50 and $3.00 Picked up some nice Bocote and Canarywood blanks along with some others, wish now I would have spent more time looking and buying more blanks. Remembe the ticket is good for all 3 days, so keep it if you plan on going more the once or give it too a friend.
