    ZW & RW Duck Calls

A friend of my daughter and son in law asked for a rosewood and a zebrawood duck call for Christmas. They are below. Finished in CA.

The Rosewood shows what appears a couple of strange lines on the top. I took the photo outside with the DCs in a photo tent. The line reflection in the center of the RW call happens to be the photo tents corner seams. It would have done better under the tent and a light set.

Nice looking duckcalls. I just hope you were able to kill off the smell of the zebrawood -- compared to the rosewood I find that zebrawood smells like a barnyard..

The outside is coated with a fairly thick layer of CA*. The inside is coated with several coats of clear lacquer and sanded smooth, so basically it is sealed as well as wood can be sealed. AS far as smell goes, that blank had less than most that I have turned.

The Zebrawood had as thick a layer as the rosewood but it just did not show up that way in this picture for some reason.

*CA = cyanoacrylate as in super glue.
