    Jet Mini took a tumble

A couple of weeks ago my Jet VS Mini took a tumble after letting it sit on it's rolling stand while unbolted. (Why would be another story.) In an example of Newtons Universal Law of Gravity, it dropped straight onto the handwheel on the left side of the headstock. There was not any damage to the casting but when I fired it up it was NOISY! I disassembled the headstock and removed the bearings and the outer bearing was rough when turned by hand. I was able to match the bearings at a local bearing supplier. It happended to be McGuire Bearing in conveniently located next to Woodcraft in Seattle. All in all a simple 15 minute fix and the new bearings are quieter than the old ones. FYI the bearings #'s were 6005B and 6004B.

Peace has returned to the kingdom.

Bummer! But, good hyou got it fixed.
I think this principle in falling is the same that always turns a freshly ground skew chisel point down when it falls off the lathe or bench. Over the years I think I have dropped such a skew a half dozen times (over 30 years, I"m not THAT clumsy!) and it landed dead on the point every time.....
I'd write more but I have to get out in the shop amd make sure that my mini is still bolted down.....

If they add a lathe-toss event to the next X-Games, you're all set!

If you put new carpet under it, it will land jelly-side-down...

I'm disappointed, Scott. No laminate flooring on the rolling stand to attach the lathe to???
