I have a PSI chuck that looks very much like the one they list now as "utility" chuck, mine came with 3 sets of jaws and I bought a set of 8" flat jaws for it. I like the chuck a lot I also bought the Nova Precision Midi chuck when they were on sale a while back. I like it also but if I had to choose, I'd take the PSI. I can't say about the PSI DC, but they are usually rated as very good so hopefully it'll be a good one for you.

      hi Don
thanks for the reply it makes me feel better knowing you prefer the PSI over the nova chuck
why do you prefer the psi?

the one i got of of ebay has the #1 , #2 and the 8" flat jaws for $43

the DC works great it was well worth the 90 bucks i gave for it

now that i have it i'm going to have to make some pcs to hook to my TS , Routers,
      DP,my jointer,and PSI lathe(on its way)

"why do you prefer the psi?"

Well, I'm sure part of it is having had the PSI longer and being used to it. The Nova's fit and finish are better no doubt but having only one set of jaws (others are available but I'm cheap ) limits it somewhat. Also the PSI has a larger range of jaw movement + I like the holding power of the PSI better. The Nova has a dovetail jaw which should be plenty strong but you have to be careful in cutting the tenons or rebates for the jaws so that you get the angle just right. I do use the Nova some, but mostly as a backup to keep from changing the jaws on the PSI if I happen to have other than the #2 jaws mounted.
