I presume the high gloss finish will prevent any problems with the wood choices. I remember reading about someone who made an instrument out of some sort of Rosewood [Cocobolo] that made the recipients lips swell up like starlet with too much collagen.

The finish should prevent that. I coated the insides of the calls also, but not as perfect as the outsides.
