    Wood stabilizer?

A thread on the CWW forum has got me wondering what the solution to a missing product is.
It started with an inquiry on where to buy this product
    http://www.polyall.com/wood.html

Apparently the company, though still around, doesn't make the product anymore.

Does anybody know of a substitute product?

So as not to duplicate response, here is a link to the thread.

I'm sure we've all had a beauty piece of wood that just happens to be partially "soft", especially spalted pieces. Would sure be nice to use some.

Bondo makes a wood stabilizer for rotted wood. It works. Not sure if this is what you want though. It doesn't fill it, it just stabilizes it.

That is exactly what the intent is. stabilize, not fill. There are lots of fillers.

The last post in that other thread shows MinWax hardener/Stabilizer.
You can buy it in any Home Depot, and it works the same as as the Bondo product, but comes in a larger container.

When you reach the final coats with this stuff, the wood will have a bit of glossy/plastic look to it...which may not be desirable in some cases.

The bondo stuff does not have the plasticky look to it.
