    Buffing System for Jet Mini?

I am considering purchasing a buffing system for my Jet Mini Lathe, but would appreciate opinions regarding the following two setups. The first offering from Beall seems like an overall better choice.

Your might want to look at this from PSI

    http://www.pennstateind.com/store/lbuffsys.html

I have the Beal system and it seems to work fine this cost less and seems to do the same task however. PSI also has a sharpening system that looks to be much like the Wolverine system for lots less money also. Of course I had already bought both the beal buffer and Wolverine before I found the PSI stuff

OTOH, I have not tried the PSI tools so don't know if they work as well. Maybe someone has tried them and can fill us in.

A lot depends on what you're working. If you're going a lot of larger work like bowls and vases and such, the 3 singles that mount individually would probably be the way to fly. If you're doing all miniatures or pens or similar smaller pieces, the 3-on-a-stick does really nicely for production type work.

I have a friend who mounted his larger set on 3 different motors. He hated it. He then found 3 motors that run at a much lower speed and got them cheap enough that he created a whole bench devoted to his buffing. And of course, he has the SPACE to do stuff like that.

I think the second option (between centers) requries at least an 18" bed so that's a no go for a jet 1014.. I'd go with the first option (individual buffing wheels) -- you'll want the ball buffs for the inside of bowls and goblets at some point in the future anyway and that will not work with the between centers option..

If you get the headstock only option be sure to order the MT2 adapter and USE A DRAW BAR.

I have the 3-On Lathe Buffing System. In hindsight I would go for the individual wheels with the quick change. The wheels next to each other get into the way too often, even with relative small items. See my quick review here:
