chuck/spindle adapter?

Happy New Year to all. I just got a mini lathe and at the same time ordered a Nova midi chuck. Not knowing anything about the gadget when I ordered, I didn't realize that the lathe has a 3/4" spindle and the chuck is for a 1" spindle. The question -- is there an adapter to solve this problem or do I just buy a bigger lathe? It doesn't make any difference at this point since I'm just practicing spindle work.
