    Anyone work with Huisache?

I am not into turning yet but will be soon.

Anyhow, I have been keeping an eye out for different woods. There is a huisache tree on my brothers property, adjacent to mine. During our Thanksgiving get-together, we might be cutting down at least part of the tree. One of the trunks appears to have broken away from the base.

I have cut down a lot of them but usually they have small trunks. In South Texas, it is considered brush andis a nuisance. Not having cut anything as large as this one, I have no idea what the grain looks like.

It is part of the mimosa family.

    TIA

Closest I could find is this, and it's probably not the best info source for this particular wood:

Once you get it cut up take some pics and try submitting them to the hobbithouse guy so he can add to his collection.

Looks a lot like mesquite. I have one right ouside the corner of my yard. Grows fast and the thorns are hugh!
