    first mini lathe

I just found this on amazon.

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...lance&n=228013

Is that any good? I know nothing about lathes. Not even sure I'd buy one, but thought that was cheap especailly with free s/h and an extra 10% off to get it to 90 bucks.

Of course, i'd need good tools.

Unless you are only planning on doing pens, I would look a little higher. I'm really happy with the PSI Turncrafter Pro. With the $29 extension, I can turn over 40" in length. The cost of all the other things required for turning are going to dwarf the cost of the lathe. I wouldn't skimp too much there.

I'm going with Joe on this. The Turncrafter has a good reputation and for around $170 you can get the lathe and extension bed. 12" between centers on the Wilton is gonna be frustrating down the road. If the Wilton has No. 1 Morse tapers it's definitely not a tool to consider unless, as Joe said, you will definitely only be turning pens, key rings, etc.

I was thinking of something like this for small stuff like pens, small toys, even some Christmas ornaments. Something cheap to see if I had any interest after giving it a try
