That link only comes up with a couple tools available. I have several Crown tools and like them.
Here is a good starter set www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=9947
My first turning tools were a Craftsmen set I bought with the original Crafts POS lathe I had. They were terrible and when I learned this I bought a Crown set and to this day I am still using them and like them. I have since added several more Crown tools and they have all been very good and as good as any Sorby I own. My favorite tools are Henry Taylor as they just seem to hold an edge longer but the Crown would be a good set for sure.
I spent extra for Henry Taylor, and have not regretted it. Almost as important as the tools themselves, though, is your ability to properly sharpen them. Set aside a little change to make sure you've got that covered.
...eight, nine, TEN! Yep! Still got all my fingers!
I think that set is better than what you would get at Harbor Freight, and many good turners use some of HF's turning chisels. That looks like a decent set to start with. But if you can afford better ones, get them and you won't regret it.
I think the HF chisels are a great starter set. With coupon that came out to $25 or so. They sharpen up well and can definitely get you started. I'm spending the rest on a chuck and rests, which will yield more results than a better chisel. Just make sure you pick up the more expensive set. There is a REALLy cheap set that is junk. You want the 47066. These are nicer than the $110 Delta set. I would have been ticked if I had paid full price for those.
