    Gift horse?

When people learn you are into turning you can sometimes find yourself coming home to the strangest things. Take today for example, when I arrived home from work I found these in my driveway next to the garage.

If you will take note of the 7/8” red broom handle behind these slabs it will give you some scale. These are large and very nice slabs of Pecan! I have no idea where they came from or who brought them to me as there was no note or nothing but hey who am I to complain! I see many projects in these pieces.

Just curious. Don't laugh too hard.

Would pecan be similar in hardness, etc. to walnut? Being a nut family and all.

Lucky man! I hope to work with pecan eventually, but AFAIK it doesn't grow around here...

mater, you are close. I have plenty of Pecan and Cherry if you would like some. You others too, but shipping would be terrible.

What a deal, Ken. All I ever get are dogs, cats, and stained mattresses!

...assuming you're not missing a pecan tree from your back yard.
