    Charity Pen

I was asked to turn a pen for a basket that is being raffled at work. The basket is to raise money for the American Heart Walk so I decided to use a piece of bloodwood I had... what a surprise when I turned it down (it started as a red piece of bloodwood)

    Here is another view

and another business card holder... walnut and maple.

That pen really did come out nice. Did you make the box as well?

cheated on that box... bought it for this pen but also to use as a guide. I've made one out of pine just to see if the process I envisioned would work... it's easy. But, the box is only $4.99 at Woodcraft. I thought it would be nice to make the boxes for the pens out of the same wood (for those that want to pay that price).

What did you use to make the threads,/Bill. Everything looks nice.

Chuck, the threads were done with the Beall wood threader kit. I found the 1" kit in the clearance bin at my local Woodcraft store several months ago and couldn't pass it up. I've since purchased the 1/2" sleeve and tap and I'm going to get the 3/4" sleeve and tap soon. This jig is a blast.
