    this is your fault Chuck!

when you sold me that jet mini last winter you didn't tell me it was infected with some kind of virus....it slowly takes over your mind and forces out all reason. "looks like a fun little tool!" "I'll turn me a few pens....maybe I should try a small box....Ooo...a bowl blank, that looks cool......hollow forms! neat!!" next thing ya know this thing has taken over my shop:

I kept it in the family and got a powermatic, and have no fear; I found a good home for the Jet before I ordered the monster [)] ....so thanks for getting me addicted, I'm having a blast! but you might want to keep an eye out over your shoulder..I don't think my wife is happy with you [:0][]

Looks like he went home and came back with his bigger brother. Now if my little Wilton will only do that...

Wow, wish my mini would do that! "Sweet" doesn't even begin to describe it.

          Regards,

I'm still around Peter and and I still have and use my JET mini. I was just working on it earlier. My son got me the extension for it. I probably will never get rid of it, unless someone comes up with an offer I can't refuse for the miniVS. Although I sure do like your new one. The round world is fun and relaxing. Wouldn't mind having one of those Bonnie Klein Jigs to make threads but that costs more than the lathe.

the mini is a great lathe, no question about it....I really do wish I could keep it. I used it to turn a bowl just after xmas that started as a mostly round 8"x3" blank, had to play around a bit with the banjo because the blank was a bit too much for the swing over the toolrest but the jet kept truckin. I did need to clamp it down to the bench until the blank was evened out though . but I have a bunch of maple blanks I slabbed out of some found logs that are just too big for the mini and I really want to get more into hollow forms so I bit the bullet and picked up one of the last PM3520A models before the B was in stock. The thing is a MONSTER...I can barely lift the headstock by myself, it's perfect for those out of balance pen blanks I cut 8-p. I did learn that it's not easy to turn a pen with a 12" toolrest though :-/

here's the last two pieces I turned with the mini, a maple burl bowl and a red birch hollow form. the hollow form is totally boring as far as the wood goes but I needed something cheap and easy for my first try at a HF!
