    CP lathe

    Does anyone know of this lathe - I'm going to look at it at lunch, it is in the classified adds for $150, 12" swing, 40" btween head and tail. manufactured in the 80's

      Don't know what CP stands for - it was CP Tools, Twaiwan - it was a rusty old pice of junk. I guess I'm destined to hold out until HF lathe goes on sale

        From what i can see of HF, their lathes go on sale a lot. The cast iron lathe with the rotable headstock seem fairly solid. The steel lathes, however, do not look or feel as strong. In fact, one of the lathes, the steel 14x40 w/the attached disc sander, had a broken tailstock. I asked a salesman about it: why do you think it's on sale, he quipped. They were selling for 89.00 US.
