Santa came in Christmas eve and brought my JET mini an extension bed. Its nice to have a place to slide the tail stock way out of the way and still have it available. It went together very easy. I was a little worried about the age of the mini because the older ones use a different version of the extension. Fortunately both were newer.
Santa was by this weekend.

Congrats, Chuck. Glad to hear you didn't have any problems. I'll need to be getting on in the near future.

Ken, I'm glad that I got it but the stuff I do doesn't warrant it. You just can't stop that santa when he sees something for Christmas. Now what I would really would like is one of those thread making machines, that mounts on the JET, but that costs almost as much as the lathe. I'll have to ask kwgeorge (aka the other ken) if he is still working on his jig. And if anyone reading this knows the name of the of the other one. I have lost the reference to the sight.Chuck C

Chuck, are you thinking of the Bonnie Klein Threading Jig: http://www.bonnieklein.com/tjig.htm ??
This would be a great gadget to have, but I have the same problem... it cost more than my lathe and talon chuck..

Well, that's pretty cool, but the old-timers chased threads by hand using very simple shop-made tools. Looks pretty challenging to me, but it can be done. FWW had an article on this a few years back--reprinted in their lathe book.

That's the one Bill, for the JET mini the adapters total of $350 plus a $20 thing ding. When I called them last. Its simply something you want and it ain't gonna happen. LOL Raffan uses one on his turning dvd . wgeorge had one jig made almost but I don't think he finished due to some problem.Chuck C
